Andaman Islands

March 2017

The colonial scar that bred India’s independence

With such beautiful islands sitting so close off its shore, Port Blair is a transit hub that most people want to spend as little time in as possible.

Underwater in the Andamans

The Andaman and Nicobar islands are renowned for their incredible snorkelling and diving. Here’s a little taste of what we found under the surface…

Long Island – paradise found

Six hours north of Havelock, Long Island can seem for some a trip not worth making. But for those that do, they find that the island’s charm and sole place to stay (Blue Planet) have a character that will ease you in to their way of life rather than force it down your throat.

Holi – Neil Island

Holi is a Hindu festival celebrating the victory of good over evil in India and Nepal. It is also the perfect excuse for everyone to go mad with paint. We were lucky enough to be on the beautiful little Neil Island in the Andamans when it was on, and we took a little ride around on the bike to see what it was all about…

Close encounters of the Dugong kind

For any lovers of wildlife, a week on Neil Island in the Andamans is a paradise. The birdlife there is exceptional; kingfishers, bulbuls, mynas and birds of paradise are amongst others that reside in the trees. White-bellied sea eagles patrol the beaches and a smorgasbord of tropical fish dart amongst the coral.
